Anna Solomon – Beyond Knowing (July 2022)

$5.00

Though we often speak of craft as a collection of skills, knowledge, and learned instincts we can construct and control,
what happens when suddenly nothing a writer knows seems to matter, when the problems she’s facing on the page are
immune to her tricks and techniques? Looking at texts that acknowledge and wrestle directly with their author’s loss of
routine and control—among them, works by Jamil Jan Kochai, Deborah Levy, and Yiyun Li—Solomon discusses what
openings might appear for writers when we surrender to not knowing.
